Four Scenarios

Shamelessly lifted from a post by 442 on the Blooming Forest message board:

1. Forest fail to reach the playoffs.
Comment: Frank and Charlie did a heroes job.
New manager: Glenn Hoddle or Roy Keane.
Fans reaction: Fans very upset Frank and Charlie didn't get the job, but understand it as they didn't want it in the first place. Megson was the reason we didn't get promoted.
Next season: Some bad results...fans turn on the new manager..."we could just as well have been left with Megson..."

2. Forest reach the playoffs, but don't get promoted.
Comment: Frank and Charlie did a heroes job.
New manager: Glenn Hoddle or Roy Keane.
Fans reaction: Oh so close!!! Fans very angry Frank and Charlie didn't get the job. Megson was the reason we didn't get promoted.
Next season: Some bad results...fans turn on the new manager..."we could just as well have been left with Megson..."

3. Forest reach the playoffs, get promoted.
Comment: Frank and Charlie did a heroes job.
New manager: Glen Hoddle or Roy Keane.
Fans reaction. Extatic! What a way to finish a season! Who needs a new manager? We've got everything we need in the two we've got!
Next season: Some bad results...fans turn on the new manager..."we should have kept Frank and Charlie, they knew what they were doing, but no, ND had to go get a new one - didn't he? We could just as well have been left with Megson..."

4. Forest reach the playoffs, get promoted.
Comment: Frank and Charlie did a heroes job.
New manager: Frank and Charlie.
Fans reaction. Extatic! What a way to finish a season!
Next season: Frank and Charlie are overmatched, doing a Paul Hart. The know-it-all shows up telling everybody they were allways in favour of Glenn Hoddle or Roy Keane taking over as manager.

Check out NFFCBasford's fifth scenario - much more likely.
