Mexican Wave: Argentina 2 Mexico 1 (AET)

Watching a game and being able to write a coherent report on it are two different things, especially when the match is seen in a pub after drinking for several hours, but the major details are intact.

Mexico go ahead early on against an Argentinian team who don't show the flair and talent that they did in their group games. After 10 minutes it is 1-1, thanks to a corner that leads to an apparent own goal, which is eventually credited to Hernan Crespo.

Argentina look the better team throughout the game but don't make the most of their chances. The match is the first in the tournament to go to extra time, when Argentina finally finish off their opponents, Maxi Rodriguez volleying beautifully into the top corner.
