Jack Lester

I wanted to echo the thoughts of many other Forest supporters re: Jack. He has signed for Chesterfield, so it seems as though he has decided to remain in the area, possibly at the expense of continuing his career at League One level. Let's not forget that he is from Sheffield, and lives in Nottingham - so Chesterfield is probably quite a good location.

I was sorry to see Jack leave, but I agree with many others; for all the fight, endeavour and occasional creativity that Jack brings to the team, his disciplinary record both on and off the pitch may well have contributed to his release. Certainly his booking ratio of one every three appearances (13 yellow cards in 29 starts and 16 sub appearances) was not good enough, and allegations of drunken "asbo" behaviour off the pitch (admittedly a number of other players were also accused) will not have helped his image. Further to that, although stats never tell the full story, he only scored seven goals in forty-five appearances.

Nonetheless, I would like to wish Jack all the best up the road at Chesterfield - I am confident that he will get into double figures in terms of both goals and bookings next season, and will become a real hero.

Still on the subject of Chesterfield, it seems that they have got in a bit of a mard about our blogging colleague at Through the seasons before us...
